Most smiths that work on shotguns will know how to check a M 12, there are lots of them out there and were/are great guns. Also there are still some trap shooters who like and do very well with them. Good luck and enjoy your M 12. Bill

Sounds like a good idea, definitely polish the trigger and bob the hammer. Then get lots of ammo and practice. Good luck : Bill 8)

The wife has one with 6" barrel and likes it because it is light weight and she can work the side (has weak hand strength). The gun is too light for me and I prefer my MK II but the S&W shoots OK and feeds about any ammo. Have fun and shoot safe : Bill
