Re: Barrel Seasoning?

Thanks Bullseye for your reply. At least now I have a better understanding why I'll endure this lengthy process. Another question: The manufacture's instructions also state "do not use a Teflon-based oil in the bore". How do I know what is NOT a Teflon-based oil? I guess the question is what oil do...

Barrel Seasoning?

Hi Folks, I just completed a Ruger 10/22 build. My goal is to end up with a accurate, long distance, .22 rifle. The only part that is still 'Ruger' is the receiver. I have a Volquartsen, fluted stainless barrel on it. The recommended break-in procedure seems a bit extreme me, but maybe not. It stat...

Re: Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all on this forum. Although a rank novice as a gun enthusiast (just got involved 8 years ago), I have received very valuable advice here.

Please keep checking-in folks. I have more dumb questions to ask. :D

Re: Election Day

Tying the two subjects together (that would be the election result and the general subject of firearms) I noticed something today: I went to one of the gun stores I often frequent and I noticed there was only one other patron milling around. I gathered up what I wanted and in the process of paying ...

Hearing Protection?

Hi Folks, First off, I've always received great advice here. I think my last post was concerning red dot sights and I'm pleased to say I've been very happy with my UltraDots as recommended. Anyway just wondering what you thoughts are on the latest in ear protection? I see a lot of folks using elect...

When it counts, like competitive match shooting, I only rely on Ultradot. Other brands seem to loosen up their intensity knobs and that is what typically causes intermittent dot presentations. R, Bullseye Thanks Bullseye, I'm checking-out the Ultradot sites. Another question; What are the advantage...

Hi,

That was my original thought too, but it's not the battery. I changed it about a month ago. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Gents, It's been a while since I've posted here, but I'm still shooting and I do look in here weekly to see what's happening. The .22 ammo shortage seems to be easing somewhat so I'm back trying to hone my skills (although somewhat limited at best) at match shooting. I have two .22 handguns, a S&...

You say you've shot the gun 10000 rounds this year, is that the total the gun has seen? or is there more? Hakaman Hi Hakaman, No, I bought this gun new in June of last year. And yes, I have to be getting close to 10,000 rounds through it. I have no problems with the gun. Everything is still nice an...

Hi Stew, I was using Federal, Game Shok (820). This is my favorite round for all my .22 handguns. Over the past two years (nearly) I have probably shot close to 20,000 rounds without a problem through various guns. .....and yes, when got home and started to look closer, I could see evidence that the...

Hi George, Yes, it was a bit exciting. Everybody is OK, but I think something hit me in the lower lip (no big problem). Once you see this happen you will understand why the range requires all shooters to wear safety glasses! I can understand the first photo and what happened, however the second case...
