Your experience with fed bulk is typical. I get 1-2% failure rate, even after multiple strikes. Just the way it is. Look at it as a training aid to see if you are anticipating recoil 8) As for eyesight, I guy in my club found a little plastic film that fits to regular glasses to sort of turn them in...

Can you tell me how much further forward the front sight is on the vcomp versus the standard bull barrel?

Try that, nail polish or some bright paint.

Different sights tend to accomplish different things, so try that before you swap out the target sights.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Pac-lites. But finding one cheap enough to justify the difference between a new ruger might be a trick.

I would try to get a 7" m41 (or a 5" with site extender) instead, hence the question about the muzzle brake.

I guess another option is the vq muzzle thingy, it adds an inch or so...

Extended front sight on MKIII?

How to do it? I have not seen any products anywhere to replace the front sight on my 5.5"BB. Would it be possible to mount a with the existing screws?
Thanks!

muzzle brake on a 41

Can it be removed? Is it supposed to be replaced with something else?

What are you trying to accomplish? What kind of shooting are you doing? Are you looking for fast target acquisition, target focus, or competitive bullseye? Ruger has fiber optic front sights that will fit and you can get a v-notched rear, more suitable for hunting. I think the service page of the fo...

6 7/8" tapered barrel

Is 6 7/8" tapered barrel for a ruger mark III an appropriate platform for bullseye? I notice mostly bull barrels on the line, I assumed that was for the extra weight? But if a good deal presents itself, can the tapered barrel be accurate for bullseye as well, and if weight is not an issue?

Ruger MKIII lockup

This happened to a club member: He put the gun back together after a routine bolt cleaning, and it "locked up". He could not get the bolt stop out again. The trigger would not pull even though the bolt would cycle and the hammer was set. When I saw it, I noticed that he had a VQ trigger, and it seem...

If there were such a significant "twisting effect" or torque imparted on the barrel by the bullet, wouldn't we feel it? On a good shot, my front sight jumps straight up. I have never felt a gun twist in my hand, of any caliber. True, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, but I th...

You're going to get many opinions. Don't listen. Just try each in your gun and you'll have the only correct answer for you. Also, take a look at the ballistics charts for SV vs. HV. If we are talking pistol, you probably do not need a sight adjustment if you practice with cheaper HV but use a favori...
