OK, I have the proper tap & drill on the way from our pals at midway. I will do my best to open up the hole and tap the 6-48. I wouldn't attempt this at all if it were not for the fact that the hole is already there and is really very shallow or if I had a gunsmith within 200 miles. I wish that I l...

Kaz, When I opened my hole up for the 6-48 tap, we ran the proper size drill into the hole, but I could not really see that it took anything off the old threads. When I started the 6-48 tap, the first turns I could see the blue being scraped off the diameter of the tap and then it threaded down in t...

Hi Kaz,

You should be able to use the stock hole, 5-40, if you can find a screw, the size difference isn't that much from the 6-48. My source had the tap, but not 5-40 screws so I went that way. It is going to be permanent anyway.

On the 22/45, only the sear pin is under the grip; hope I don't have to remove it.
The spray-on adhesive softens with high heat. The grips could be removed by heating them up with a heat gun, and replaced again.

I didn't like the grind-down on a new gun so I made some grips from walnut to go over the factory. Procedure and pictures can be found here: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... ost1873463

This is non-destructive and convertible back to original if desired.
