For everyone's information, I sent CCI an email yesterday with the question about the Mini-Mag. About an hour later, I received a reply from CCI saying the rimfire engineer thought it might me a problem with a specific lot of ammo, and was sending me a replacement to try. I was not expecting that. I...

Thanks for the replies. Bullseye, that was my first thought. The speed won't let it stabilize in the 21" barrel. The twist is 1-16, which I think is pretty standard for a 22 rifle. I was going to email Savage, but they have a note saying they are too busy to answer email. Must be nice. KAZ, and bgre...

I think I'm at 8 different calibers as well: Handguns (1 each): .22 .380 9mm .38/.357 .40 S&W .45 ACP Rifles (1 each): .22 25-20 (my grandfather's old gun-92 Winchester) 30-06 (my Dad's old gun Only duplicate is the .22. Maybe I need a .44 Magnum, and I've always wanted a .243, but have no use for it.

Savage MKII question
Hey guys, have a question. I bought the Savage MKII for my grandsons' a couple months back, and they love shooting it. We have gone out a couple more times, and they are getting pretty good. I was shooting it over the weekend(wasn't purchased just for them, but that was my excuse), and noticed somet...

I called Smith on Tuesday. They said to return the M&P (were sending a shipping label but haven't got it yet) as they want to make me happy. I told the guy about the other problems and told him I was concerned about the quality control, or lack thereof. He said he would pass it on, for whatever that...

Rant on Smith & Wesson quality
This may cause some problems, but I need to share my recent experiences with 3 different Smith & Wesson handguns I've purchased over the last 2-3 years. I have an M&P 9, Pro Series 686, and Doug Koening 1911. And I have (or have had) problems with all three. First, the 1911 because it was a minor pr...

Update on Grandson's and MarkII
Took my 2 grandson's (ages 11 and 13) out Sunday with the new Savage MarkII I let them pick out. Neither had ever shot before, so we started with the basics. Bottom line is they had a blast, and what's even better, they were in the black at 25 yds on every shot! First couple were a little eratic (bu...

Oldman, damn nice group. I was going to post on here a couple months back when we lost our old dog-a Chow/Terrier mix named Missy. She couldn't walk, was blind, deaf, had about 20% kidney function left, and some heart problems. As best as we could tell, she was about 17. We got here from the pound 1...

I've decided it's time to get a .22 rifle so I can teach my grandson's (ages 11 and 13) to shoot. I also think they need to learn to shoot on a bolt action with iron sights, which eliminates the Ruger 10/22 target (which I would get If it were just for me). Once I think they know what they are doing...

I just did a test last week. While CCI Minimag were the best (about 50 rounds at 1.5" from a rest), CCI Blazers were very close (less than 2"), and good enough for most everything except Bullseye. Federal and Winchester Super X were inconsistent-generally 3-5" was the best I could do. About every 6-...

Thanks guys. Actually makes sense to me, so I guess I won't worry about not cleaning them every time I shoot. Maybe that's causing groups larger than I think they should be. (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) Do appreciate the answers, I knew I'd get the straight scoop from Bullseye and the Be...

Cleaning pistols
Sorry to post this, but I did a search on "cleaning" and didn't really find what I was looking for. I apologize in advance if it's been asked and answered, but I'm getting old and the memory isn't what it used to be (what was I saying-oh yeah, now I remember-cleaning a gun.) I know most of you don't...
