Update
Back to the range today. Fired 550 rds of Federal WW bulk, with just two, I repeat, just two ftf. Both of which fired on the second try.
Must of been the dirty FP. Thanks again Bullseye for the suggestion

Yes it does make some dirt, which is why I use the lube very sparingly. I try to keep track of the round count, but I know I forget to make notations on a regular basis. The current number in my book is 20450, so I know I've put at least that many through the gun. I doubt that I will ever be able to...

Thanks Bullseye, I cleaned the pin, the track it rides in, and the spring itself, before reinstalling everything. The F-pin had a thick buildup on the sides of it and the track had a fair amount of carbon on the sides. The spring was fine. I was a bit surprised to find so much crud in there, as it h...

More frequent FTFs.
I've shot at least 20,000 rounds of Federal Bulk 550 pack, ammo through my MK II Ruger and while I have always had the occasional FTF, lately it seems to be happening more and more often. Today, for instance, I had 7 rounds out of about 250 that didn't go bang. On the second go around, all but one f...

I like to tell people I meet at the range who are not happy with the accuracy of their shooting, that no one was born an expert shot. It take concentration, effort, and practice. I think you're doing just fine, keep it up and before you know it, you'll be blasting the center out of those targets. Pa...

I had an AD with a 700 ADL in 30-06 back around 1985 or so. I was out hunting with my son and it was getting late. Once I decided it was getting too dark to shoot safely, we called it a day and headed for my truck. By the time we arrived at the truck in was indeed dark. It was a really cold evening ...

Don, Lot's of good suggestions here. I'll just add this one. When you're ready to shoot, remind yourself to concentrate on each of the important aspects of making a good shot. You can get into a good stance and then pay attention to the sights and trigger control. I try to tune out everything going ...

A-H, Yeah, I love to shoot .22s too. I don't get to shoot them at that distance here, but I still enjoy them. Now, if I lived in the wide open spaces of Arizona, I guess I'd have to see just how far away I could hit something like, say, a balloon, with a .22 rimfire. Come to think of it, I'm going t...

Fun at the range
Tuesday while at the range, I decided to shoot my .22LF CZ452 at 100yds. I don't typically shoot .22 rimfires at that distance, but I thought I'd give it a shot (pun intended). I started with CCI subsonics, because they tend to perform quite well in this gun at 50yds and less. Using a 4x Nikon rimfi...
