1911 A1 parts questions

Are all the recoil rods the same for this model, ie can I put a low power spring meant for target loads on a factory recoil rod made for hardball?
Are all barrel throats the same? or are some made specificly for hardball or specificly for wadcutter?

Lastly what does DCM mean?

Thanks.

Well, I wanted it for both IDPA and Bullseye style, thats why I wanted good iron sights and to be able to drill and tap it for optics. But after reading around I don't think it is possible to have one pistol that is competitive in both IDPA and Bullseye -- besides it won't be the last .45 I ever buy...

Recommend me a Rock River .45

After reading the advice you guys gave me on a bullseye .45, and after reading the site Bullseye linked www.bullseyepistol.com, I've decided to go with the Rock River. Many of the match grade parts mentioned on bullseyepistol.com come standard in RR's, and there aren't any Bullseye gumsmiths near wh...

Thanks for giving me a name to drop, Princi. If what Bullseye said about the customizations that would be needed for a match grade pistol holds true to the Les Baers I probably won't end up with one. Bullseye, in the long run I intend to use the pistol for the three gun national match competition. I...

Thanks for the info. Originally I actually wanted a Kimber Gold Match II, but a couple of my friends advised me against Kimbers. So now I'am unsure.

I checked out the Les Baers, looked very nice. The Premier II 6" barrel caught my eye, it's MSRP was 1,700.

Colt Gold Cup Trophy

I'am thinking of getting a 1911 style in a few months. I will be using it in bullseye competition as my .45 ACP and as the "must be .32 or larger" pistol -- so I want pretty nice accuracy out of the box something able to shoot a 5 shot 1" to 3" group at 25yds. So far the Colt Gold Cup Trophy seems b...

Thanks bullseye

Just installed the washer went pretty well, aside for it taking me 5 tries to put the hammer back in :P The magazines fly out now, ezer to field strip, and it might just be my imagination but the trigger pull feels a tad lighter.

Thanks a lot :D

Thanks for the info :D I just got the washer. I reduced the outer diameter of the second washer, but before I start cutting the first washer I was going to see what tool you recommend using to make the cuts. Right now I'm thinking a dremle with a cutting wheel on it.

Edit: phrased my question poorly.

Rather than order the hammer and bushing or have the part machined, I think I'am just going to try the regular flat washer to fill the space of the magazine disconnector -- So what size washer do you recommend I ask the guy at the hardware store for  ? Thanks.

Removing mkIII adjustable sight blade.

I'd like to change the express sight blade on my Hunter to a more conventional target blade, but I can't seem to find any how to's on removing it. Any info on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.
