Re: AR-15 Rifling Question

Blue,

While I hate to mention another website while here on GTO, perhaps you should ask your question over on AR15.com. Someone over there is bound to have an answer for you.

Re: 1911 grip screws

Thanks to all for the replies. I am going to use a small amount of blue on the grip panel screws.

Re: Stopped short on becoming a Kimber snob

I have a Kimber and it's a nice gun. It goes bang every time I squeeze the trigger. It's pretty accurate too, however all the other 1911s that I have or have had, make a lot of noise when I squeeze their triggers and they seem to hit the target too.

1911 grip screws

The grip screws on my 1911 frequently loosen and I'm considering placing a small drop of blue loctite on the threads to stop this from happening. Does anyone know of any reason why I should not do this or is there a better solution to fix this annoying situation?

Thanks

Re: My Dad's old Marlin model 60

I don't know if I've ever shot a Marlin 60, but there is a good chance that I have. When I was a teenager (a few years ago) I used to go out to the old clay pit on the west side of town with my buddies. We'd always try out each others guns, but I never paid any attention to what make or model they w...

Re: 1911a1 question

I did get a reply to my question concerning the SA mil-spec model. Mark Johnson COO of the CMP said that it is in fact legal for us in the As issued 1911 matches. Just in case anyone else is interested.

Re: 1911a1 question

Thanks Bullseye for the reply. Do you think the difference in ejection port is significant enough to seek out the Mil-Spec version as opposed to the GI version's smaller port?

1911a1 question

The CMP has a match where the pistol used is the as issued to our military forces the 1911. They allow commercial copies of this firearm as well as the originals. I'm thinking about a Springfield GI or the Springfield Mil-Spec. I'd prefer the Mil-Spec because of the lowered ejection port and the sig...

Re: Fun gun

I have to agree with you completely Bullseye. These days it seems people are more interested in what an elected official can do for them personally, than what is best for our nation as a whole. As a child, I remember well the no nonsense attitudes of my parents when it came to patriotism. When the N...

Fun gun

I recently acquired an M1 Carbine and what a fun little rifle to shoot. What made it even more fun was learning about the history behind these world war II guns. Who would have thought that the US produced 6.2 million of them in the course of just 3 years.

Okay CharlesB, you've had this little Savage for quite a while now, so the question is, do you still like it and why. I've been looking at these myself for a while now.
