Bullseye , that was my logic for doing a bag & tag as well ... that and the remote possibility of a future sale. (I can't imagine why I would sell my target pistols) greener , thanks for the tip on locking down the trigger screws, now that you mention it, I need some loctite for a P22 that likes to...

I lucked out, the drone behind the counter said they had just finished stocking the shelves, I missed 9mm by 10 minutes.
I would have bought an armload of 9mm as well had it been there, the big blue box is the only place locally that hasn't jacked prices more than 15% or so in the last 6 months.

Bummer with those as your only available 22LR ammo. I spotted at least 9 bricks (I bought 4! For under $15 each!) of federal 550 at the local big box, and scored a box of CCI CB shorts to feed my Henry as well. If it is any consolation, Jack ... a levergun or other non-semi-auto would probably eat t...

Oh, there's better info here than I can even hope to give, I'm just pointing you in the direction I was pointed.

A bit of advice - do your detail strip on a good working surface and keep some places clear to sort the parts. I used some extra paper towels as landing pads.

Bullseye, thanks for the help.

VQ order is in, hopefully sg552-2 /sam at rimfire central will get back to me with his preferred method of payment/shipping soon.

So what am I supposed to do with the extra parts after I install this stuff, anyway? Bag & tag them and stash them in the safe?

Bullseye, Thanks for the fast reply. 1-makes sense, thanks for the tip! 2-if I don't need as many parts, I won't worry about pinching pennies on a sear. 3-that's what I had been thinking. 4-thanks for the tip, I'll stick with the stock hammer. 5-I'll get over there and get one ordered. I actually h...

Multiple Ruger mkIII upgrade questions

I have a mkIII torn down nearly all the way awaiting a replacement sear pivot pin from Ruger, and I am now inspired to add some goodies and upgrades to both my mkIII pistols. Upgrading is mostly for a hobby/project, Honestly I can't outshoot the factory mkIII, I'm just looking to increase reliabilit...

I found the detail strip much easier than I feared. It is too late to take pictures, but the exploded diagram from Ruger was a help, we used it to double-check everything as we labeled and bagged it. I've been thinking about those VQ parts, particularly the sear and hammer assemblies, plus removing ...

broken sear pivot pin

blue68f100 , I nerved myself up and got MrsBFD reading me steps, your detail strip is easier than it looks, Bullseye! The issues seems to be being caused by a bent/cracked sear pivot pin ( part #49 on the exploded diagram). That was the only smoking gun I found in there, besides the sear being cake...

1-Is this a metal framed pistol or a polymer framed one? 2-Do you know if the hammer fell during each of these events? 3-How many rounds were in the magazine when you closed the bolt? 4-Was there any auto firing of remaining rounds in the mag? Thanks for the reply, Bullseye. 1-Metal-frame, unmodifi...

BFD's mkIII

This happened multiple times at the range last night, thankfully it was pointed into the backstop every time! I also got a few light strikes, if that might be related. It occurred with "slingshotting" and with the bolt stop lever. We were rather disturbed, and I was looking for any relevant experien...

My only complaint is that it's so easy to just reload my two mags, that I'm having a hard time making myself buy an extra couple of mags for that rainy day! :) I bought 3 at the same time as ordering the UCL. Makes for more trigger time if you're taking turns with one pistol, but with only two maga...

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I'm relieved that I made a good call picking it up.
Darned thing wouldn't go back in the case.
And it was making MrsBFD and I almost fight over who got to play with it.
So we brought it home to show it who was boss!

Went to research & rent, ended up buying a Walther P1.

We went to our somewhat local gun shop which has a range and rental program to research SD/HD handguns, and had about given up on getting to rent a 9mm handgun that would be a good fit to MrsBFD's hands [tiny] and usable for my hands [yeti]. So after some renting and shooting [SIG226, Glock17, S&W M...
