I passed this little tip onto my nephew this weekend. We put a new 28" Bull Criterion on his Savage the prior weekend & spent yesterday & Saturday doing ladder tests @ 300 yds. Conditions varied quite a bit so we only got time to check out 3 brands of 30 165 gr with 4064. The match loads he had been...

Good idea Charles.
My Dad used to say,"Too soon old, too late smart". The older I get the more I resemble that...still waiting on the smart part tho.

In a few years, there will be a glut of old .22 ammo on the market, passed off as fresh. Misfire! Locally they don't even try to pass them off as fresh. "Vintage ammo" is an often used description. Just chafes my behind to see 30-40 year old ammo trying to be sold for $150/carton. I don't let it co...

Jack, I have no personal experience with either of the two mentioned, I use a Marvel unit one myself, but will pass along items I've seen posted on the Bullseye List and another shooter that I know who used the Tactical Solutions. In a nutshell neither will provide BE accuracy for Expert or higher c...

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Boulder, CO. It was really nice 40-50 ish. Got to walk around in shirtsleeves. All the locals were in winter coats. Got back to Bismarck late last night, -5 F. Welcome home :(

Allgator, I'd advise paying heed to Bullseye's recommendation. Dud's on 22 ammo usually comes from a lack of priming mixture under the firing pin hit, or a chamber/bolt face area so filthy that it cushions the round instead of holding it solidly. Normally if you remove the 'dud' and turn it a bit it...

We had our Chinook on Friday. It got up into the low 40's. Then Saturday we fell into the subzero basement again. Yesterday we had the first 1800 match of the year. When I was driving to the range in the morning, we had our HIGH of the day -11. Today not much better, -19 (without the wind chill). I ...

Same from the balmy shores of Bismarck, ND.

Yesterday it was -31 when I was driving into work. Today it's supposed to up to 28 above. Oh well, keeps some of the riff raff out.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Glad you found him interesting. There's so much really great information out there "If you know where to find it!"

Unfortunately, there's 10 times as much that is just either wrong or even dangerous.

series by Ed Hall

Here's an excellent series by Ed Hall that he wrote several years back.

I'd forgotten how good it was until I recently reread it.

Should be required reading for anyone shooting precision pistol.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

stance

Normally I use about a 45 degree to the target stance. I first position the pistol into my hand, establish my grip, and take an approximate 45 degree stance. Then I close my eye's and rotate my shoulder until it settles. I open my eye's & see where my natural point of aim is relative to the x, then ...

Grip placement

OK, Mark II wanted some different threads on BE shooting so I'll get the ball rolling with this one. In order for my wobble area to be minimized I have to place the heel of the grip (relative to the lifeline) in different locations. My Rugers require the heel to straddle the lifeline, where the 1911...
