Stopped short on becoming a Kimber snob
Kimber snob: They guys I've run into at the range who tell you just how good their 1911's are and just how much they paid for them and that their Kimbers are the best made. Most can't hit squat. Got a hankering for one of those high priced guns. Checked with a few folks who advised me to save my mon...

I was just glad to get the light that allowed me to practice.

CZ 75B SP01 makes me a better shooter
A coworker and shooting buddy brought his new CZ 75Bsp01 to the range today. Nice compact 9mm. Feels good. Trigger is good, a little one and soft, but it shoots well. The CZ and I shoot a little left, based on 5 rounds from a handgun I've never fired. I like it better than my LC9, which is the same ...

CT Laser Practice
For the first time in over 2 years I had my M&P9 with the CT laser at the range when it was dark enough to see the laser. We shot about 1.5" right at 15 yards shooting fairly rapidly. Darned thing wanted to bounce around a lot, but the rounds stayed in the right half of a 5.5" Caldwell marking targe...

Re: Neighborhood Watch
They close schools in the Richmond area because someone drew crude sketches of guns in the bathrooms (two schools). People are doing everything to make the very sight of guns frightening. I'd be surprised that you will be offered counseling when you've seen one before long. Maybe it's already starte...

Never let a tragedy go to waste
Earlier this week in western Virginia a reporter and her cameraman were shot and killed by a former station employee while they were doing a piece. Our governor was calling for stronger gun controls, universal background checks, within a couple of hours of the event. The former employee purchased hi...

Falling in with bad company
First recoil therapy in quite a while. Starting chatting with a fellow who had a couple .45 Colt single actions. Let him and the two ladies with him shoot my Ruger .22's. When I said I had been semi-looking for a lever in either .45 Colt of .357, he invited me to shoot his Taylor Uberti. A lot more ...

What else are friends for?
A Richmond gun store was robbed of 32 firearms. The perps were caught quickly because the police acted on an anonymous tip that gave the name, location and cell number of one of the perps.

Just noticed gun prices
I was in the mood to look and actually, maybe, buy this afternoon until I strolled through Greentop. $900 for a MKIII Hunter with holo sight? Only $600 without the sight. Sale prices for even used guns were out of sight. A used SR9 was $50 more than I paid for mine new. Maybe I haven't seriously loo...

that's why everyone should have a mill, or, a friend with one.. Well, it is better than an old, rusty bastard file and a carborundum stone. I'm glad you specified in that last message Greener! I thought you may be referring to me as I have plenty of those other things too. I may actually res...

The pin didn't want to move from the left side but moved from the right side and out the left. I'm sure it didn't matter, but I started on one side and got it The change was easy. I like trying to shoot the centers out of targets. Also, the range I go to uses cardboard target backers and checks them...

The Williams sights worked very well. Took a few rounds to zero at 7 yards, then some more zero at 15 yards. It was easy to line up the front and rear but I had to break a tendency to focus on the rear. For comparison I took the GC with the Dawson Precision front and Ruger square-notch rear blade. I...

Did I just miss something so obvious as swapping the Williams rear blade for he Ruger? Nope. It looks like you have to replace the whole thing. I finally found a pin punch small enough to remove the pin. It seems to want to come out the left side so you have to punch the right side. The front and r...
