I've been getting very good results with the Dynapoints in my Marks. Far better than what I expected from ammunition that costs so little. I've had a few more missfires than you, but by no means have they been excessively high. I shoot CCI-SV in my Model 41s for local league matches and Eley Tenex f...

Hi Dave, Actually, I do have a plan to hold the slide open after the last shot on your Marvel. The idea I have is based on the special magazine follower I made for the Ruger Mark I pistol. You can look at that design here http://guntalk-online.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10 A magazine follower of the ...

Great post Stork. :D Not all Distinguished shooters have numbers, only those who've earned Distinguished status from the CMP as a civilan marksman. Stork's #1298 doesn't actually mean only 1297 shooters had earned distinguished badges before him. Military members also become distinguished shooters a...

This sounds like your extractor tension is too loose and releasing the case too early. Put an empty case on your bolt and check the extractor. The case should be held firmly onto the bolt with very little wiggle evident. This can be done with the receiver on the frame. Just place an empty case in th...

A real good indictor if this is a problem is to slowly retract the bolt on a cartridge, if the rear magazine lip knocks the case off the bolt, then the magazine's positioned too high.

You should be able to find a good used magazine fed .22 bolt repeater rilfe for sale somewhere. An old Winchester or Remington would do the trick. CZ USA offers some reasonably priced rimfire sporting rifles too.

Shuttleman wrote to me with a problem and wanted to know if I could help him, that post was the result of our conversations. I figured this might benefit some other people too, so I compiled it into an article.

Marvel upper on a Dinan lower with a UD4. Dave C. Dave, I like the Marvel conversions too. They shoot remarkably well. Do you have a Unit 1 or a Unit 2? The only thing I didn't like was the Unit 1's lack of a slide catch. Reminds me of the old Ruger Mark I, and that feature bothered me so much I ma...

When I was younger I had an old High Standard 9-shot revolver. As it was the only handgun I owned, I became very good with it. I carried it everywhere I went (even to school - it was no big deal to have weapons in your locker back then) and always had a couple boxes of shells for it in my pockets (...

I'm with you on the .22 craze. I love shooting the little bores. I was in a club, quite a while back in California, that also had an open class for their 3 position league. The open class was for scoped rifles so the optically challenged, silverhaired shooters could play too. I tried shooting in the...

I must be the only person on the planet who can't shoot a model 41. I just never could get that gun to behave for me. I bought it used so maybe that is why the previous owner sold it. Maybe it was an anomolie cause it couldn't have been me. Don't feel like it was you with that M-41. There was a per...

What's your favorite .22 pistol?

My favorites are the Ruger Mark series. I have one from each group. Mark I, 22/45, Mark II, and Mark III. For me, these are most enjoyable to shoot and tinker with on the workbench. My match pistols are all S&W Model 41s. Can't beat the smooth feel of the trigger. These have to be the easiest and fa...

3 Position smallbore rifle

Anyone else like shooting smallbore rifle? I started shooting 3 Position NRA when I wanted to concentrate on my high-power scores; really made a difference! I also got into teaching juinors smallbore and air rifle. My club has a pretty good juinor program, it's also affiliated with 4-H. I have a nic...
