Re: Williams Fire Sights, almost

I figured you had been busy since we didn't hear much from you. Nothing like retiring, heh? I figured your Mrs. had the To-Do list hanging over your head but I guess you can't stay away from the old job site. Some days things just come together, especially when you can see well.

Re: Finally picked up my Mk 1.

Images added to the original post.

That is a Bushnell Phantom scope mount with the twin 'V' mounting blocks. I didn't have a picture of them but I found this one on RF.com.

Re: Finally picked up my Mk 1.

Pictures have to come from a photo web hosting site. I don't have the forum software set up to accept photos. I can post them in your thread for you if you want to send me a copy via email.

Re: Stopped short on becoming a Kimber snob

Every time the news starts quoting the government's whining about more gun restrictions the sales go through the roof. I saw a line graph of firearms sales over the last twenty years and the average quadrupled in 2008 and just kept climbing upwards from there. I know what you mean about the Kimber c...

Everyone's got their own 'pet' pistol to enjoy. (I mean that term in a favorite way)

I too am enjoying this new software update.

Re: Ajax polymer ivory grips for Bearcat no work

Based on your description the grip screw through-hole was a bit off index causing the screw to contact the hammer strut. I agree with you, it doesn't matter how good they look or fit if they cause a malfunction. Another manufacturer is the choice for an aftermarket grip.

Re: Ajax polymer ivory grips for Bearcat no work

Contacting them would be a good idea. I'll bet they have no idea that there CNC machine program is off alignment for the grip screw hole. They should send you some new grips once they fix the program.

Re: Ajax polymer ivory grips for Bearcat no work

How do the new ivory grips compare when lined up with the old grips? Is the mounting screw location different in the new grip?

Re: new to me mk1

I purchased a See-All sight to do a review with and it performed well with a bit of adjustment to how the focal points align. Eye relief on this sight can have a huge impact on the size of the aiming marks, it was more suited for pistol than rifle as pistol has the longer eye distance based on stanc...

Re: 1911a1 question

It is good that you received an "official" ruling from the CMP. I thought as much, but some local matches can take their rules interpretations a bit too far sometimes.

Re: new to me mk1

You are in a larger group that you think, over the years when I have instructed large groups of shooters, I have found through informal surveys and demonstrating techniques that verify eye dominance that 30% of those were actually cross-eye dominant. Some of them didn't even know that this was reaso...

Re: new to me mk1

I noticed you mentioned a scope on that pistol; you don't want to continue using that sighting device? It should work great for senior eyes. Or switch over to a red dot style scope.

If not you can get a Hi-Vis brand, or one of the sights off of ShopRuger.com.

Re: new to me mk1

You can replace it with any front sight made for a 5 1/2" bull barrel, it doesn't matter the generation of the pistol. The sight screw is a 6x40 tpi thread.

All right, I'm glad to see we finally got you in. Thanks for your patience. Sorry it took me as long as it did to figure out this new software to back you into the system. The good thing is you're all set and now I know how to get it done right if I have to do it again for someone else. Welcome to G...

I used to teach that there is no "I" in the word TEAM. But these young folks have the come-back of, "Yes, that's true but there is a 'ME'!"
Sheesh!
