And now I'm trying to think up a safe way to test out the bullet resistance of a cast iron tub. I think they're more brittle than you guys are picturing.

BFD, if you are a qualified observer? you can get in the tub and I will use my Micro .45 and you can then give an eyewitness description of the test and results.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Tell you what, B&OM if you have a tub, I have the place to blast it down here, come down on a day everything is frozen hard so you can drive your range bag right up to the backstop to deliver the tub and the pile of water jugs I'll buy for the event, we can test out a lot more than your micro .45!

Damn, now that would be fun. Too bad when I did a bath remodel about 10 years ago, I hauled out the old steel or iron tub and left it for the waste management truck. I got 4 wheel drive so as long as it is not too deep mud, I can make it even if it thaws, You are not that far away.

I don't think the tub would stand a chance against what I have in mind.

Now you guys are going all scientific :P What those old tubs have in their favor is no flat surfaces to be found. I recall some young folks clogging up an emergency room after blasting at a steel auto rim out in the desert. Although I suspect that what HAK has in mind doesn't care the angle. 8)

It isn't my 50cal, but apparently would eat up a tub or two. A friend at work showed these results.

I remember when Glock came out with the composite frame. Libs wanted to ban them because they would go through X-ray machines and being plastic were merely Sat. Night Specials.
