Break Free CLP

I have been using CLP for three or four years now, and it always had a smell. I got some for christmas, and it has almost no odor. It is clearly CLP, looks the same as the old stuff, just doesn't have the familiar smell. I was wondering if anyone here knows if maybe they changed the formula recently, and if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks

I hope this is not a "new & improved" CLP. The unique aroma (refuse to call it a smell) is as much a part of the CLP legend as the effective way it works. Similarly, the aroma for WD-40. Neither would be the same without.

I called Break Free today to ask about my CLP not having the same odor. I told the woman I spoke with that my new can didn't smell it all the same as the old stuff, she described the old stuff as having a citrus smell, and asked if mine had a almond smell. I never thought the original had a citrus smell, and my new stuff is not almond, but she did say they changed it. So assuming she was being honest, it has changed.

I haven't bought any new in quite a while so this is news to me. I still have a large quantity of the "old smell" so I'll just keep enjoying the aroma of good maintenance for a while longer.

Will be interested if it works as well as the old formula. My bottle is about 3/4 full wondering if I need to locate some old stock....

It seems like it is working just as well as the old stuff, I was a little skeptical at first, but I think it is still good stuff.

Where does one usually purchase Break Free CLP?

I've seen it at WM, LGS and most sporting goods places.

Thanks blue. I've only ever used Hoppe's #9. I will pick up some Break Free CLP next time I'm at one of those stores.

I guess it's good that I have not used CLP before. I will not know what I am missing in regard to the old aroma

Often it can be found in Auto parts, and big box stores too.
