When and why did Ruger Change their Logo from the SR Eagle to the R eagle? You can see the new emblem on the model SR 22 and LCP Pistols.

The word I heard was they wanted to upgrade their corporate image so they dropped the reference to "Sturm" in the company name. Bill is gone now so there's little attachment to his long past partner by the corporate wonks.

I thought it was a shameful thing. Bill would have never stood for it. No Alexander Sturm, no Ruger firearms company. Dropping the "S" is just another part of Ruger's decline, in some ways, since Bill died.

I found some 4 inch diameter S.R.& Co. hawk logos on eBay for the back glass of my car. If they had only the "R", I would not have gotten them.

At least Sturm is still, so far, on the company's letterhead, invoices and envelopes.
