Ya think they work for the tax payers? Virginia has a 45 day limit for Clerks of Court to do the CHP. My county has been pretty good about beating the deadline, others need encouraging.

I've spent 3 decades submitting meaningless environmental reports that must be sent on time or I get fined. The gummint is allowed to sit on them for years or take their own sweet time responding. Still frosts me after all this time.

You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

It's sort of a new age type thing, gut all the useful, hardworking employees
so an organization can save more for the CEO's. The clerk said the delay was
due to manpower issues? :?:
Gun owners aren't a high priority.

The Michigan State Police website says that the response (approve or deny) is 45 days, so more than 3 months is exceptionally long. For $105, it appears to me that they should be glad to meet their deadlines since it is a good revenue source. An active state gun rights group is one way to apply some pressure on issuing agencies that want to exceed statutory requirements or delay permit issue.

I know a lot of folks who have permits from states like Florida or Utah that allow them more travel freedom since they have very broad reciprocity agreements. I wonder if it is worth the extra bucks to have one of those as insurance against your own state having a case of the slows.

I found a DPS Texas website that shows the status of your CC request after you enter your personal information, underwear size, etc..

My permit is still under review, it said. - I was starting to wonder if the mailman had lost my permit or something.

So I guess I'm just going to have to hurry up and wait, trying to be patient about it.

It's nice to know that I can check the status of my permit online.

Last weekend at the gun show, my purchase of a M1A was instantly "green-lighted" by the ATF without the dealer even having to hang up and wait for a call-back.

Oh, well.

Like a fine wine, no permit shall be served before its time. Which would you rather have a properly aged permit or one that is raw and green?
