Having a Ball..

Post by Baldy » Tue Mar 01, 2011 8:35 pm

Over the last 8mos I have picked up a couple of .22 Rugers and I am having a ball shooting the little pistols. I was just wondering if anybody else has done like me and kind of forgot what fun it is to shoot .22's.

I have started to shoot steel with my 22/45 and that is a lot of fun. Just went last Saturday and shot pins with my MK-III and 1911. I had a lot of fun with both of them. Now I am going to get my 1977 Standard out and shoot steel with it. That one has laid in the safe for 25yrs and not been used. You can bet that will not happen again.

I can't say I had forgotten how much fun .22 could be, but I will say they are a bunch of fun. Love shooting mine.

i have always enjoyed my .22's, but what has recently put a LARGE grin on my face is my M&P 15-22. that with some steel/spinners and its about the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

I picked up mine after I got my ccl. And shoot it just as much as my carry gun. It's a blast to shoot and I plan on getting some reactive targets this summer to increase my fun.

A .22 goes with me to the range every time. The fundamentals are the fundamentals. I'm a firm believer in: what you do with a .22, you will do with the bigger bores.

I love shooting my .22 Ruger pistol. It's about all I shoot. .22's are very fun and affordable, I have 9mm pistol that I like a lot, but find myself having more fun with the .22.

I remembered real well from from my "past" shooting days. When I got back into shooting because of the Election hoopla, I skipped centerfires completely. All my old favorites were ,22 Rugers, and I re-bought them as close as I could buying new.

I occasionally miss the bigger bangs and heavier recoil, but .22 does all I need. I'd rather have all rimfire than all centerfire.

If it came down to (heaven forbid) having to choose a limited number of firearms, My 22s and 12ga will still be here. They do like the company of the others in the safe though.

I just brought one home from my LGS, hope I can handle all that fun at my age.

Looks like they use a lot of the same polymer parts, especially the magazine it is huge for a .22LR but would be about right size for a 5.56 cartridge. My shooting bud has a M&P 15 in the 5.56/.223 version, we will have to compare mag. The lowers may be the same casting.

hey bear i saw your post on the S&W forum, congrats on the EBR-22!

the lower is a little wider, but otherwise most accessories fit.

44mag.com has about the best deal on mags, and tacticool on the S&W forum i believe is working on a speed loader.

Is that a special mount for the red dot or does it come with the rifle?

It was pretty cold yesterday but had some errands to do and the club was on the route. Shot one mag full and the gun does work, had a reflex sight on but can not bore sight it, but at 7 yards it was in the ball park. Trigger is heavy, one guy on 15-22 forum recommended a JP reduced spring kit, it will be here Monday. Mounted my Bushnell 4X later in the evening and even with extra high ring I have to cheek it until it hurts, looks like I need to get a riser, as I see a lot of them used.
