Best scope for a S&W Model 41

Post by jstanfield103 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 7:55 am

I have a Red Dot scope on it now but the new Red Dot is not holding ). It is going back to the factory for replacement.
I am in the process of buying a scope for the model 41. I want one from 2x to 6 or 8x. I am looking for a shorter scope but not having much luck. Currently I am looking at two totally different scope on both price and ability.
Here they are.
1st is a Bushnell Elite 2-6x32, seems to be an excellent scope but it is 9.5" long very long for a hand gun. the whole gun I believe is around 10.5"

2nd is a Konus 2-8x28, it is very cheap and don't know how it will hold up but the size is the smallest I have found at 8.4" I lik ethe looks but don't know about this one.

I believe I would be happier with the Burris as far as quality just don't know about function.
What scopes do you have on you're model 41 S&W. please let me know.

Never had a scoped handgun. I keep a running debate with myself over putting a Weaver Classic on my Mark III. Comes in 2 X 28 or 4 X 28, black or silver, 8.3 inches long, 6.5 oz.. Midway often has it on sale for $140, most places are about $160 any time.

Thank you Ruger 22, I did look up the weaver website and they do have a 2.5x - 8 x, 28mm that looks good still a little long at 9.3"
Thanks looking into it.

I have a older Bushnell 2x scope for my MKIII but I prefer the dot for most cases. I have not used the scope in over a year now. If you will be using a rest a scope is fine, other wise it magnifies your movement in a big way. I'm not sure you will find a scope less than 6" long probably closer to 7-9" for a variable power. Another thing to be fully aware of is "Eye Relief". Most pistol scopes are setup for 12" or less eye relief. Only a select few have the longer eye relief. Nikon EER series and Leopold have the longest when I was looking at them several years ago.

We'll I have ordered the Bushnell Elite 2-6X32. I also ordered some quick release scope rings. I also have these scope rings for my Red Dot when I receive it back from Millet (Bushnell). With the quick release I hope that I can change scopes quickly and no problems with the "O"
