Which S&W Model 41

You should be doing the same for seating a 1911 magazine. Too many times I see folks slamming their palms upward into the bottom of the mag to seat it. This is a good way to dislodge the first round and cause feeding jams.

Understand and absolutely agree. I would never slam a magazine home. In fact, I recently had my grandsons at the range and had to stop them from slamming the mags which they must have seen somewhere else!

But, none of my guns require slamming the mags. They all, Wilson Combat, several Sigs, S&W's, High Standard's slide in easily and click into place with a gentle push of the thumb - up until these new mags in the old Mod 41.

However, I have been thinking about the catch sliding down the side of the mag and may try to stop that.
