Altmount Grips SS Screws and Pretravel fix 22A

Post by jstanfield103 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 5:00 pm

I just finished for the most part everything that I wanted to do to my 22A that I have owned for approx 1 Month.

1st thing: I wanted was a smaller sturdier wooden grip. I was having trouble finding them, but recently Altmount grips finally posted some. I bought a set of the slim grips (I have small hands) and sanded the right hand side thumb rest off and refinished them. Feels real good, and looks really good on the gun. The only problem I wasn't aware of is the original screws are not long enough for the wood grips. I finally found the screw size and bought Hex headed Stainless steel screws. The screws were too long but after grinding and filing the end of the treads free of burrs they worked well.

2ND thing was to remove the pre travel in the trigger. I would and may yet stone the trigger group but the trigger pull has not bother me as of yet. I got the trigger pretravel fix from this site:

I was nervous about drilling the frame but it went very smooth and works very good.

I have posted some pictures just so you can get an Idea if anyone is interested.
