Ruger Mark II.5 10" closer to done

I received my Mark III Grip Frame today. It makes my Mark II look like a new gun. It is so much nicer with the 1911 Mag release. It was very tight fit to get the receiver/ Barrel on the frame. It will take a little while before it loosens up to break down.Now I will have to buy a used barrel and bolt for the Mark II frame. I even took the silver phoenix off the Mark II magazines and put them on the Mark III Magazines. Thanks to JStacey for naming it a Mark II.5. The new frame came with a Volquartsen target trigger but I like the older wider trigger better so I replaced it.Had to use the Mark II trigger pin though, the newer trigger pin was really tight on the older Volquartsen trigger that it would not even go through the trigger. Turned out nice and tight and very happy with it. Now off to the GunSmith for a Factory Ruger scope rail drill and tap installation.

Nice pair of Mk's, long barrels. I like the Hogue grips too, what I have on mine.

Don't get in a habit of removing the barrel every time to clean, only for detail cleaning every 2000+ rounds. Repeated removal will loose it up, you want them tight. I just clean the receiver with the bolt out, using 6" q-tips. Keep solvent away from the LCI on the MKIII and it will not gum up as fast. I use the LCI as a when to detail clean indicator. When it starts getting gummy and does not spring back freely it's time to clean. Of course with the MKII you do not have that issue. I only clean the barrel when the accuracy drops off.

Thanks for the info, but I will not be removing the receiver that often. I made a patch worm and it works really well. I don't have to worry about the LCI because this is a mark II upper on a Mark III lower.
The patch worm works great if you have never seen one let me know and I will post instructions on how to make one.

Looks nice. Is that a stock MKII rear sight? I don't think I've ever seen a MK with such a big windage adjustment screw, but I'm not too familiar with the older models.

I made a patch worm too. I used a broken mechanical pencil and some monofilament that goes in my line trimmer. Works great. Aside from the chamber every now and then, I'm very paranoid about cleaning my 22s with with metallic instruments, so having no metal pieces, the patchworm I made is great for me.

Earlier this morning I did not see the pictures either. The host server may have been down for brief maintenance. They are definitely visible now.

While I am showing it off can someone tell me what the hole is on the left side of the grip frame underneath the the safety on the Mark III. Just noticed it today and looked at pictures they all have the hole just curious what it is. This hole is not on the Mark II frames

OOOPs found out, it's the internal safety lock. Must only work with a Mark III mainspring, Mine is a Mark II mainspring in a Mark III frame.

Well I got the Mark II.5 back from the Gun Smith the other day and received the scope today (11-27-12). Finally got the gun just the way I want it. Can't wait to see what it will do on the range this weekend. Things done to this Mark II 10" ( or so named Mark II.5 )
1. Volquartsen complete innards
2. Mark III Lower with the 10" Mark II upper
3. Volquartsen 1st Gen target trigger drilled and tapped for pre-travel also
4. Ruger Scope rail add ( drill and tapped by Gun Smith )
5. Leatherwood / Hi-Lux Optics 2-7x32mm Long Eye Relief LER27X32 scope

Here are some pictures, I have to say I am very happy the way this gun turned out. I do have way to much money rapped up in to it but to me it was well worth it so far. I am sure it will shoot as accurate as my S&W 41 that I sold that was set up with the same scope. I know this gun has been flawless, something that I always struggled with on my 41. I just really Love the way it turned out. looks new and factory drilled and tapped.

Now it's Done !

Looks good! I think we have a little unofficial competition going on between you and the oldman on who's got the biggest scope mounted on their Ruger pistol.
