Simmons .22 Mag 4X32

Post by ruger22 » Wed Dec 30, 2015 1:35 pm

I got a gift card that just covered it, and Simmons has a $30 rebate offer through January 6. Plus, most shooting forum writers seem to think it is the best low cost scope available. Big upgrade from the $15 3-7X20 Tasco I had on my 10/22 DSP.

I chose the 4X32 in black matte. Ditched the supplied tip-off rings, but still went cheap with Simmons' Weaver type medium rings on the Ruger mount. Scope clears barrel by about 1/4 inch.

Typical, I had one filler screw slot disintegrate, but I managed to drill it out and chase the hole with another screw. Somehow now the hole is a bit more snug than the others, but that's okay. I doubt I'll ever take the mount off again.

I've done initial sight-in with a Tasco Scope Mate. It's a plastic gizmo I gave $8 for a few years ago. It actually gets you within a few clicks of dead on.

Once I get the rebate, I'll have about $31 invested in the scope. Now bad for what seems to be a decent one. Not I just have to see how long I have to wait to fine tune it.

I have one of their 3x9 on my Browning Take Down 22. It's been on there for several years with no problem. I'm down to my last 10 rounds of the ammo I like using in it, AE22. Then I will have to switch over to the AutoMatch. The AM sometimes give me feeding problems, blunt nose hangs on feed ramp. But at least I have some I can shoot. It's sad when you can shoot a center fire cheaper than a rim fire.
