.243 Win Load

Post by Sebago » Thu Feb 09, 2012 5:55 pm

I have a load for my .243 Rem 700 that shoots .375" groups from a cold clean barrel but, the groups start opening up after 3 shots and by 15 shots it is over 4". Should I try a different powder or be happy with what I have so far. I use for hunting deer and coyote.

thin profile bbls will start stringing shot as they heat up. your load is right on the $$ I would let the bl cool between strings. I usually bring a 22 rifle to the range when shooting CF for something to do while it cools.

Thats what I did, I brought my MKIII hunter and shot it between strings and it was about 40 degrees today. I also believe I was once again a bad influence on my oldest grandson, when I took him to the range with me and let shoot my ruger. The last thing he said when he left my house was " I'm going up north snowmobiling this weekend and on the way home I'm throwing a for sale sign on the snowmobile so, I can buy a Ruger.
