Unscrewing LCR barrel?

Post by ruger22 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:02 pm

How would one remove an LCR barrel from the shroud? It's step one of disassembling the forward crane latch, no roll pin like S&Ws.

I thought about a bolt run through, with rubber and metal washers to grip the ends of the barrel. Or tapping in a strip of wood, then "unscrewing" the wood would unscrew the barrel. And would it be right or left hand thread? I feel sure it is threadlocked, too.

Is there a common tool for the job?

Just curious. I have spare springs for both of my LCR latches, just would not be sure how to replace one, if ever.
