Taffin's Single Action Sixguns book

Post by ruger22 » Tue Oct 11, 2011 11:44 am

I finally have a copy on its way to me. I've had a search for it on ABE Books for nearly a year. Most have been beater copies, or cost two arms and a leg. This one claims "like new" for less than thirty bucks. From a book shop in Texas, no less, which is fitting for this book.

I've never seen a copy to browse, but I've always liked John Taffin's writing in the gun rags. I think it will be a good read.

Still waiting. Since I paid four dollars extra for "Expedited shipping", I thought last night was time to email the bookstore.

Just found out it was sent UPS, and the tracking number. It's "scheduled for delivery" Friday. Nine days from Texas to Virginia. Had I known the seller used UPS, I would have passed on the book. Priority Mail would have had it here two days ago.

I hope it at least gets here undamaged. UPS isn't batting a thousand there, either.

Puns, anyone

I will bite -
Is there a pun somewhere in this?..
"UPS isn't batting a thousand there, either."
Texas bookstore..? Texas Rangers in the World Series..? (and likely pennant winners)

Probably not. Just the way my brain tilts on occasion. :?

No pun intended, but that's a good one! If I was more of a sports fan, I would have realized it.

Turns out the Texas store also serves as an outlet for high end books from Goodwill Industries, and my book is coming from Oregon, not Texas. I just checked and Amazon has this book listed for as much as $900, no bull.....

Mine is supposed to be a "like new" hardcover for $29. If it really is, I guess I got a deal........ :D

Do you really have to ask this question? Shoot first, read later when it's dark!
