the suspect is either very angry at LAPD, very crazy, or both....

My favorite part of the story so far is the suspect's "manifesto" he posted on facebook.... he's all for the AWB and Mag restrictions, in addition to all of his other vendettas.

i'm going to stick with calling him "suspect" I'm tired of giving these fools any more notariety than possible.

I agree about denying instant fame to violent nut-cases, the news folks should be more responsible about that.

My take on this is that the fellow has slipped a cog. That this has happened with a law enforcement officer points out the fact that it can happen to just about anybody, especially if various danger signs are ignored or overlooked.

This kind of thing is quite rare among LEO's. I hope he is caught soon, with no more damage done.

My guess is his only cause is getting canned about 4 years ago. That must be feeding his lunacy.

That may be one of those "chicken or the egg" deals...

Nuts because he was canned - or canned because he was nuts?

I'd hate to have to call that one. It's hard to tell.

I don't think I'll ever have any problems, I just drive a Ford Edge.
(and it's dark blue)

The two newspaper women are likely being fought over by large legal firms, looking to get a fat cut of the lawsuit they'll have. Leeches.

The women deserve every dollar they can win. There's no excuse for shooting up the truck without positive ID. Those out of control cops give others a bad name, and aren't helping the pro-gun argument at all.

It really is hard to believe this could happen, especially now a days. I got to believe every police gets trained on when and who to shoot at.
Remember in the 'Dirty Harry' movies when you don't shoot at the old lady with groceries!!! and you do shoot at the thug with a heater in his hand!

LA cops have long been known for not being thoughtful. Besides, I bet they are a nervous bunch of folks, with a sniper out gunning for them.

Dark blue Ford Edge, huh? You sound like a real dangerous guy.

Now although they were looking for a very dangerous person, the officers involved in that shooting of the paper delivery people should have still followed their use of force rules. Now why did they shoot at the people in the truck? Where they not following commands, or did they jump out of the truck. I'm sure they would have called them out on a felony stop or at least they should have. I've had to stop cars that match the description of those of high risk people, and sometimes it is the wrong car, but you have to keep you witts about you.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is either the folks in the truck did something stupid or the cops that stopped them did.

By the way when you stop a high risk suspect vehicle and order everyone out at gunpoint and prone them out on the ground, and do the police thing. And it ends up being the right looking car but the wrong people (like its aunt Flossy instead of that armed robbery suspect), you take the time to apologize and explain the situation to them no matter how time rushed you are .

If I get pulled over by the police I put my 'open' hands on the top of the steering
wheel for him to see. It's got to be tough being a copper and pulling someone
over, especially at night. Police should always have a back up cop with him.

I can hear the owl hooting in the woods out back, must be time to shut it down.

Don't crack the window and make some snarky remark. I've heard that some cops like to write tickets for that.

Snarky remarks are only legal if they are original..... Very few are.
