Weird weather

Post by ruger22 » Wed Nov 26, 2014 12:56 pm

It hit 72 here Sunday, 60 yesterday. Now today's high will be 40, and we're getting what is supposed to be 2 inches of snow right now. Then gradually back up to 62 by next Sunday. Weird...........but better than New York's 9 feet of white.

Last week we set a new record here. The high was 40F or lower for 3 days in a row. This record goes back to as long as records have been kept since the 1890's. Our normal high is in the mid 50's. The old week was cold with lows in the mid to low 20's here. Where our normal lows would be mid to upper 40's.

We have gotten back to normal for now. Suppose to have a high in the 60's for Thanksgiving Day after a cold start in the 30's . So we will have a very nice day.

Weather here in West Texas is about as usual for this time of year. My only complaint is the high winds at night, out of the west. - It's just like an old western, where the wind whistles and moans at night, on the desert. This time of year, it really does that, loud enough to wake me up sometimes. I have to get up early while its still cold to go shooting, in the early morning we generally get a few hours of calm.

Then about 9:30 or ten, it starts getting breezy again, at about the same time that it starts to warm up. At this altitude, there's a year-long difference of 20-30 degrees between night and day.

We went from a high yesterday of 78ºF (was still 69 at 10pm) to a 36ºF temp this morning. The front came through here at 3am. It's only suppose to stay for a couple of days then we go back to normal temp.

The mid-Atlantic states weather is always seems to be dependent on which direction the wind is originating from - North colder, South warm and humid. Causes a lot of temperature fluctuations.

As they used to say in a couple places I've lived: If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes.

about 70 yesterday, 41 this morning

I haven't been shooting in a long time, so weather won't be considered on whether I go today.
