On the Parker – Hale 7mm Rem Mag rifle takedown

I am writing this up in hope that my description comes in handy for someone else unfamiliar with their PH rifle...like I was until this am. In order to remove the metalwork from the stock one must first unscrew the two screw that hold the action in place but, and that’s not an obvious but to the cas...

Parker Hale in 7mm mag

Gentlemen, this is somewhat of topic but yesterday I had the fortune to purchase a very nice PH 7mm Rem mag. I've searched the internet but not much disassembly info is available for my particular rifle. Anyone of you familiar with this particular mode? It's a mauser action with removable 3 round cl...

This is an excellent exercise! Used to do it years back but somehow it dropped off my radar screen. Thanks for reminding me of it bullseye!

You are absolutely correct Bullseye, strength training is always a good thing. I do shoulder exercises at the gym in that fashion. Funny thing though is I've never been able to shoot worth a darn right after a gym session, due to excessive hand shake . Always give the body time to rest tired/aching ...

I will probably get another chance to shoot this weekend, I'll post results. This set-up is quite a bit heavier though, which can be good and bad.

I know I'll love it bullseye but I've got a question, where should I ultimately locate the scope, closer to the rear sight or where it is now? Feels kind of front heavy at its present location but I've not shot it yet...

toyfj40, I will request his permission but I kinda doubt he would be interested in acquiring additional work. See, he is retired and accepted to do this to help me out of my predicament, but I will ask. On ironing out, yes he did polish the feeding slide but he also used a special tool (looked like ...

Gentlemen, it's finally done! After the machine shop guy didn't come through for me I took a 100 mile road trip today to take my Mark II to a very fine gunsmith I've used in the past. He drilled and tapped the pistol, installed the scope mount, and "ironed" the feeding ramp for $30. It was a real pl...

One can break JB weld off, and without permanently defacing the pistol, but it definitely will prove more of a task than simple screw removal. But after it’s all said and done I think I’ve made the right choice by not using JB weld...as picky as I am it would be a source of unnecessary and constant ...

Yea, I figured he might be off for the holidays....

I could jbweld and drill/tap later but it'll be a mess if I ever wanted to take the mount off. I think I'll just have it drill/taped instead.

Guys, thank you so very much for the detailed information you provided, top notch as usual. After talking it over with my gunsmith friend, and reading what you had to say, I decided to have it done professionally. So, I have an appointment with a machine shop tomorrow evening so I might get it done ...

No you did not scare me off, I am simply investigating alternate solutions that may prove less intrusive to my pistol

Thanks for all your help!

Guys, I received the scope mount today but I made a cosmetic mistake in my selection. I ordered the matte silver and really don't like the way it looks on the SS bull barrel. So, I'll send it back and wait for the black to arrive. In the mean time, has anyone used epoxy to fix the mount onto the pis...
