I was taught to tighten until the threads strip, then back it off a half-turn.

Some of us are here, but have nothing much to say! I'm about to start a new thread, though.

I think it was MacArthur who said,

It shoots high at any distance (well, it might be low a mile out :)

At 25 ft, it's about 2" up.

I replaced the rear blade with a square-notch (thanks, Ruger!), but haven't shot it yet with the new blade. Maybe next week. I'll let you know how it does.

Thanks!

I’m confused on FTF – is it “Failure to Feed” or “Failure to Fire”?

Laser vs Red-Dot vs Holographic

As budget allows, I am considering improving my ability to sight on a target (old eyes and bifocals are limiting factors). I’ve been researching sights, and there seems to be some ambiguity in catalog descriptions. Some places call red-dot sights laser sights, othes call them red-dot holographic sig...

Rear Sight Question and MK III Manual Error?

I have a MK III Hunter. In the manual, it appears that the parts diagram is wrong. Part 12 (rear sight base set screw) and part 16 (rear sight elevation screw) are reversed. Am I right? On the diagram available from the Ruger website, the elevation screw (part 12) is identified correctly, but the se...

MK III Over-travel Screw?

Do all Ruger MK III’s have an over-travel screw? I have a stainless steel Hunter, and the manual does not show a screw in the parts diagram. I don’t mind pre-travel, but I’d like to get rid of the over-travel. Eventually, I’ll probably install a VQ trigger and sear, but not until I’ve broken-in the ...

Hi! From the North Georgia Mountains. It’s a beautiful area, just moved here two years ago. After a long hiatus (over 20 years) from shooting, I attended our local sheriff’s office “Citizens Academy”, an eight week introduction to the sheriff’s office, its functions and staff. We spent one night at ...
