It's supposed to make W8/W8.1 look more like W7 instead of a tablet. I have a touchscreen laptop and don't use that interface. If I want a computer that works like a tablet, my Samsung Tab works better. They are supposed to be getting rid of some of the apps that came with W8. I'm not sure which one...

Who is going to be first?

Notice the little icon on your task bar this morning/ It's our reservation for a free upgrade to Windows 10. All you have to do is signup and Bill Gates and his minions will download it to your computer when it is your time. I was thinking about signing up the Boss' computer. Just after I cancel my ...

It seems the biker Phoenix protest had mixed results.

I believe I just read the organizer went into hiding because of the death threats.

Years ago a good friend in Michigan moved to Texas and he was really excited about Texas' gun laws and how far advanced they were. I think he even bought a new Glock to celebrate becoming Texas legal. I know he would have been happy with this advance. Virginia is constitutional carry. If you can leg...

A silencer on a Smith and Wesson would not work so well.... if it was a Nagant, then it would work great. Seeing as they have the whole gas seal thin going. It worked in the Clint Eastwood movie. So it must be so. And if you are Stallone, you can put a silencer on a Ruger MKII and make kill s...

Who needs a centerfire pistol?

All you need is a Ruger MKII with a silencer. I just watched a Sylvester Stallone/Antonio Banderas 1995 movie, The Assassins. They used MKII's with silencers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassins_(film) First time I'd seen it. I was really impressed with the power a silencer adds to the .22lr. :lo...

In the long run, Win10 will make a better game machine - but it's got a ways to go before it gets there. At this point, not enough third-party outfits have stepped up to the plate with drivers for their hardware. Windows Vista is light-years ahead of any Linux distribution that I have tested, so fa...

I've had a Hunter for 6-7 years and I've never really liked their fiber optic sight. I've either used a red dot or fussed with the sight. I have a MKII GC, essentially the same pistol that had the blade front. It was a lot better and I shoot it more often and more accurately. A while back, I changed...

Why not? I suppose they can't ignore the potential market.

I just hope Virginia doesn't get any of them California good ideas.

Missing person

I've been unfindable by people in my hometown for 40 years. Two weeks ago I spent the night at a ratty old Hotel on Atlantic Beach before my semi-annual Outer Banks fishing trip. The owner happened to be from my home town. I graduated with his older brother, he graduated with my brother-in-law. It t...

Nice to see someone who isn't blindly following. My Dr is part of a corporation that has a no-guns policy but has no signs. it is private property and they can do as they please and I can choose to use or not use them. I don't get asked questions about firearms because they have treated me for shoot...

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should pack a couple of long guns in the locking case this time. I'd love to see what the AR does at 200 yards. Between the weather here and other distractions I haven't had much range time this spring. It's a heck of a thing to be retired and not have time to go to ...

One of the reasons I rarely read the Washington Post

An article in the Post "Thousands Dead, Few Convicted" is on police shootings. They don't really mention that the thousands might just be justified. The examples of officers charged are anecdotes to prove some sort of point. The other side could be very few shootings aren't justified. But the Post w...
