Ruger mk1 question

I have found two locally they are 5.5 Bill barrels. One was made in 1979 the other 1973. Same condition and price. 1 Did ruger use better barrels in the mk1 vs the standard pistols 2 was either a era good or bad? I know they used Dougless barrels for a while that is why I wondered if one era was bet...

I have two of them in the older versions just before the T-3. Exellant rifles. Both are hunting rifles that hold sub moa with quality ammo.

A pistol is good but two is better. I'd get another in the 5.5 bull barrel configuration. Then if you decide that you just don't care for the 678 Slab anymore you can always sell it. There's lots of folks who desire that barrel configuration. R, Bullseye That was my first thought, but I noticed Cla...

Ruger MK II rebarrel

I have a SS MK II slab side. I am thinking of having Clark put one of their match 5.5 barrels on it. Is it worth the money? I like the balance of the 5.5 better than the 6 7/8 slab side is what it comes down to. Would a Ruger 5.5 be cheaper or should I just find a new one with a 5.5 barrel for the c...

Most malfunctions are magazine related. Have you tried switching mags? I usually number my mags then track what one is in the pistol when I have a malfunction. If it is the same mag over and over that is usually the problem. Even good mags go bad if they get bumped and the feed lips get bent etc.

new way to disable mag disconnect for free

Being really cheap and lazy I decided to try a new way to disconnect the mag safety. Long story short it works. all I did was pull out the disconnecter and file off the hook that catches the sear. To keep the pressure off I cut the long end of the spring off just above the first bend. The hook that ...

Just saying thanks

This forum really helped me with some questions on my Ruger pistols. The exellant photo's and directions for mods really helped. I picked up my latest yeaserday, a MK III 22/45 and installed the v notch sights on it and my MK II competition model this AM before coming to work. I plan on doing a coup...

Cheapest option is try diffrent ammo. Also have someone that knows how to shoot shoot the pistol. That will eliminate those two problems. A friend of mine's department has a lot of smith autos and they have a lot of problems with them. If ammo or someone shooting it does not fix the problem, send it...

Need suggestions with reloading set up purchase.

I have reloaded for 20 years although not much in the last few. I always used a single press setup because I was loading for accuracy and low volume so I weighed each charge etc etc. With the price of ammo I want to get a progressive set up and load some handgun ammo. To be honest I am not sure what...

Mk II competition problem?

I bought a new MK II competition about two years ago. It was left over and never sold at a local gun store so I jumped on it. At first it had some feeding problems I attributed to new. After several hundred rounds and a good cleaning it seemed to do well. I was shooting it yesterday and several time...

To make a suggestion, why not get a Ruger 22/45 and work it over. Less expensive in the long run and you still get the 45 angle. just a thought. On the other hand I am not sure if the accuracy can be brought up to your standards, bullseye would know better than I. I am thinking for $1300 you could b...
