Welcome, Jayman The name meanings are interesting. My Mother is from 100% German lines. Namely "Beckman" and Heilman". My Great Grandparents moved across the ocean and settled in a German community in Minnesota in the late 1800's. Their offspring spread out across America from there. My Father was f...

Regarding UltraDots. What location on the Ruger Mk III do you find is best. As far to the rear as possible As far forward as possible centered over the gun. I have recently moved my .22 pistols Ultradots rearward so the back end is even with or slightly behind the rearmost part of the gun. Might be...

Compensators are not helpful in bullseye. I suggest trying the LSP aluminum sleeved barrel and a low weaver type base adapted to it. Then fit both dot rings on the front of a 1" Ultradot with the extension screwed on. Don't extend the base back past the breech. Working the slide with the bridge sigh...

If we are talking about the Mexican Eley Sport in the purple box, I like it. I fire it in bullseye league with the 208s Hammerli. And it does great in my MkII. I class it right with Aguila SV. Both of these are my standard bullseye ammo. I do use Eley Target (yellow) for SF at the big match. I also ...

Sound like you are understanding slow fire. Good job. If timed and rapid is completely new, don't go for speed yet. Shoot two consecutive shots. Discover the look and feel of a good recoil management and recovery at the sights and in your hand. Second step is to release the first good shot within 1-...

Hello Keith Your Ruger ought to carry you a long ways if you pay attention to the fundamentals. A good trigger job helps too. I have yet to use my MkII in a match. I use a Hammerli usually. But this Ruger practice target is as good as the Hammerli does. Thats SF on the left, not zeroed and wrong tar...

I define accuracy as hitting inside the ten ring at 50 yards. Others define it at 7 yards center of mass, or minute of tin can at many yards. A week or so ago I printed sub 1" groups at 50 in an ammo selection test from sandbags. That's the accuracy I am looking for. What is your definition or stand...

Read what the AMU has said about gripping the 45. This is from an earlier printing of the AMU Manual

Notice in the above 45 grip picture the mainspring housing is positioned in the crease between the base of the thumb ham and the pinkie side ham. But that is with a 45. I think it to be kind of hard to do this with the MkII grip. Stippling front and back adds good traction to the grip. Or similarly ...

I bought a 1977ish 41 a few years back. The first shot I fired from it went bang-thunk. The mag fell out. I though I must not have clicked it all the way in. Push it back and fired again. Bang-thunk. ???????-@$#%^#$ I said to myself. Later, on examination, I found I could increase/decrease the mag c...

Correct you are Mr Bullseye. The BoMar instructions called for a little flat there, I reshaped the top of the big pin as well. No big deal at all. However this step is not required with the Volquartsen sight. But the Volq. sight is a bit forward shortening the sight radius. I went Volq on two other ...
