.223/5.56mm has been fairly available in my area recently. The availability of .22lr is still non-existent though. At this point, I can't do business with Dick's Sporting Goods. After Newtown, in addition to ceasing all sales on "assault style weapons," Dick's terminated their business partnership w...

Yup, likely due to it being a light firearm, as BE points out. This is due to what is called the conservation of momentum in physics. The firearm and the projectile leaving the barrel are a system and the momentum that the system has before and after firing have to be essentially the same. Momentum ...

Sorry for the mix-up this post belongs here: And there's the beauty of the PSA upper I bought for $409 total, it was exactly what I wanted. i.e. an FN M4 barrel but with a floating hand guard, correctly head spaced and proof shot. BCG was and extra $150, a Spikes tactical with the spider on its sid...

bg, based on my observations, component prices are about normal now. Last week I got a BCM BCG for slightly under retail. Not sure about complete lowers, uppers, and rifles though. I did see a basic RRA for about $900, seems like a normal price to me. Here's my thoughts on building an upper vs. buyi...

Shooting less this year, but not really due to ammo. I'm closing in on completing my degree in mechanical engineering. The courses got really tough, so I've been spending most of my range time studying for exams  . If time weren't an issue, my .22LR usage would have definitely taken a huge hit....

Acceptable for m4 Barrel Extension?
This barrel's m4 extensions have a ring that comes out past the barrel's chamber. It loops around most of the extension and under the chamber, like a helix. I'm guessing this helix is a thread cut used to attach the barrel. My concern is that none of my other AR barrels have this exposed, rather lar...

Sorry, Jack. However, as we all know, it was much more important for the State Dept. to spend $600,000 of our tax dollars on gaining more facebook likes than hosting a celebratory fireworks display in your area. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/07/03/state-spent-more-than-600k-to-attract-fa...

That's awesome, bg. A 22lr rifle loaded with 1 round at a time is a great way to teach him. I remember hearing a story on the news a few years back where a child was allowed by his parent(s?) to shoot an automatic 9mm UZI (not sure if it was the SMG, mini, or micro) at a gun show. The child lost con...

Wow, that's impressive, David. I am a mechanical engineering student and I just finished a course where one of the major topics was using metallography to examine metals that have been subjected to heat treatment, cold work, diffusion, etc., so I can appreciate the work that went into that polishing...

Just use the cost of your tools to justify other builds after this one  I wouldn't not recommend LB, but I also am definitely not a LB fanboi. Really depends on what you want out of the pistol. My LB is a NM Hardball I got for CMP and it shoots 10 shot sub 3" groups at 50 yards with ball, I hav...
