Re: Carry gun

I carry a small Kimber Ultra Carry II in 45acp. Small light more compact than a revolver.

Re: Bullet Weight!

I've had terrible luck with the H335. What I determine was the load was too light to get a consistent burn according to my crony results. I pushed the load into the bolt class which was about 1 gr over max for an AR. The crony number then came in and thing started improving but I was showing over pr...

Re: Bullet Weight!

I am happy to report though that the 55 grain bullets did pretty well at 2,000 fps velocity. I'm assuming you meant 3000 fps here since 2k is very slow for a 223. My 223R AR has a 1:8 twist with a Wydle chamber which means it likes the heavier bullets. Shoots one ragged hole using Varget and 69gr G...

Re: Brand new Ruger MKIII locked up SOLID!

Did you checked to make sure your screws were not too long. They may be contacting the bolt locking it up. If the bolt was oiled the thread locker should not stick very well to the bolt.

Re: Simmons .22 Mag 4X32

I have one of their 3x9 on my Browning Take Down 22. It's been on there for several years with no problem. I'm down to my last 10 rounds of the ammo I like using in it, AE22. Then I will have to switch over to the AutoMatch. The AM sometimes give me feeding problems, blunt nose hangs on feed ramp. B...

Re: AR-15 Rifling Question

My research indicates indicates it's only offered on the fast twist 1:8. Apparently it works good for the 80gr and up where you have a long body bullet. No indications of it being as effective on the lighter shorter bullets. I decided to go with the std button rifling for this build.

Re: brass catchers

I used mosquito netting on mine. Got it from a fabric store. It's a nylon material that has held up very good for 7 yrs now. It does have some marks from hot brass but no damage to speak of.

Re: 1911 grip screws

I was referring to the bushing to the frame. For the grip panel screws use a small o-ring to keep it from loosing up. I forget which size it is but it's very small and thin (cross section) that compresses. If you want to use Loctite on these screws use the Purple which is low strength.

Re: 1911 grip screws

I had the same problem with an Al frame 1911. A gunsmith friend of mine said to clean it real good that use the Loctite. But he recommended the Red High strength version. He said with the soft Al it will wallow the hole out if it keeps coming loose. Better to secure it and be done with it. So I did ...

Re: My New Shop

There are a few that hunt the coyotes and hogs at night around here. I here shooting in the middle of night all the time. Part of the country life. I've thought about a suppressor but since I'm 5+ miles from the city I have not done it. My closes neighbor is a good 200 yrds off, east of me. He is on...

Re: My New Shop

It was quite unexpected in the way he went. Caught a lot of people off guard including me. There was no suffering and it was not drawn out. He got up to go to the bathroom, laid back down and that was it. His heart just stopped. He lived a full life, was sharp as a tack mentally. I wish my memory wa...
