I agree with Bullseye, to me it doesn't seem worth the chance of regretting getting rid of it. Just the fact that you posted on here to get opinions, means your unsure. If it was me, I would keep it, I constantly here people talk about guns they wish they would have never sold. I can understand thou...

I called Ruger back today and asked about the bolt, the woman I spoke with said if I was comfortable with it, to send it stripped, which is what I wanted to do. She did say it is possible I won't get it back until after the holidays, but If I need it, I think I can get one from my Dads gun. I am gla...

That's a good thought Bullseye, I would have overlooked that, and they did not specify stripped or not. This is a little off topic, but, I have been thinking about buying another MKIII, and was thinking of buying a stainless one. I was wondering how resistant to rusting they really are, I have read ...

I called Ruger today, and like I feared, they need me to send in the bolt. First he said they need the whole gun, then he must have talked someone into letting me just send the bolt. Either way, no gun. I told him this was a new replacement gun, I don't think he cared much. I guess I just have a bit...

Yes, this is the new replacement Ruger sent me. I still haven't contacted Ruger yet, I hope they will replace this without me having to send it to them first. I think I need to buy another gun to have a back up. Bullseye, do you think this could possibly cause extraction problems, I have recently ha...

Ruger MKIII/chipped bolt

I was cleaning my gun today and noticed that a small piece chipped of the bolt, right around the cut out for the extractor. I need to call Ruger still, but thought I would post some pictures. I don't know if this is very common or not, but the gun is brand new, only about 1500 rounds. http://i1133.p...

After reading all these posts, I can't help but think, I would be pretty damn scared to rob someone at a shooting range. Even if no one else was there but the person you intend to rob, anyone could show up anytime. It crosses my mind that something like this could happen at my local range. The range...

I really don't know how someone can justify shooting a 73 year old man and stealing his belongings. It's hard to imagine ever reaching a point in life where doing such a thing would ever even become a thought.

I don't know if this post will be of much help, but I will share what knowledge I have. I use a Ultradot 25, it is probably way more than you want to pay, but they are quality red dots. I don't hunt, but think a tube style red dot would work fine for me for hunting. The Ultradot's start at about $13...

I can relate to you with me playing golf. I started out young, but gave it up for years. I have been playing again for a couple years, and really wish I would have stuck with it. Golf is a very frustrating game, and I know I would be much better if I never quit. But really, trying to improve is the ...

Pete, a couple things that have really helped my sustained fire are, focusing very hard on the black of the target, I have a tendency to watch the dot, and when you do that you end up steering the gun all over the place. And the second is obviously trigger control. My trigger control thought that ha...

Ruger MKIII, Ultradot, 50' indoor league match SF 93 TF 97-5X RF 100-6X NMC 290-11X I had another good night tonight, hope I can maintain scores like this through out the season. I can't complain with a score like this for me, but my last shot of slow fire I jerked one into the six ring. It's strang...

My new gun also has the extended feed ramp. I never had feeding issues with the old style though. My new MKIII also has a target crown, I have a blued bull barrel model. I sometimes wonder if Ruger has ever had second thoughts about adding the LCI to the MKIII, it sure seems like a lot of people rep...

Both of my MKIII's have had this issue yours has. My old pistol that just got replaced had it, and I checked my new gun when I fist got it, and it has it. As far as I could tell it did not create any problems with my old gun, mine did crack through from the corner of the lug cut out, to the LCI pin ...
