weaver vs weigand bases for Smith 41
Hi Folks, I took the plunge and have a S&W Model 41 on the way. It's factory tapped and I'm going to put an ultradot on it. I see two options for bases, Weavers 62 base, or another made by Weigand. The Weigand is almost 5x the price, but the only obvious difference I can see is the finish, which is ...

clark mark ii conversions?
hi guys, I've been thinking of building up a new 22 pistol for Bullseye shooting. I already have a ton of mark ii magazines and Im comfortable with the mark ii after working on mine a lot. I'm considering sending off a stock tapered barrel mark ii I traded for to Clark Customs for a conversion. Have...

I just started shooting bullseye, its my first competetive shooting although I've been shooting pistols all my life. What a great time it is- there are shooters of all ages and experience, and my league uses a handicap system so everybody has the same incentive to shoot well. Also a young new guy ha...

preparing new magazines?
I just got several new magazines for my 22/45. I had several feed problems in the first match I shot with the new mags mixed in, although there were other factors that might have led to that.
Is there any preparation that ought to be performed on new ruger factory mags?

Good news! I coated the inside of the Hogue Handall with clear RTV (I did not coat the grip itself with it, but I should have), slid it on, and let it dry. Then I used a razor blade to cut out the rubber around the mainspring housing slot, and I put a plastic bristle brush in my dremel to smooth the...

I polished the disconnector and its cycling beautifully now. In fact I went back to the VQ plunger spring and the trigger feels like a million bucks. For the polishing I just used a conical polish wheel on the dremel with a little bit of their compound. I got one of those Handall things and slid it ...

thanks bullseye. I have one of those handalls on a little keltec and I like the feel of it. how much of a pain is it to get the bolt release out of a 22/45 with that handall on it? I liked the Marvel but since I haven't got any 1911's I'm not sure what I would do about a frame. still a possibility t...

experiences installing VQ kit in a 22/45
I found the other posts on installing the VQ kit very helpful so I thought I'd add my own. The story is mostly uninteresting, installing the kit was pretty smooth. However when I got it to the range I was getting failures to recock the hammer. I suspected the pretravel adjustment, but somehow I mana...

I agree- I don't think the epoxy is really necessary. If anything, it acts more like a glass bed than an adhesive. The fit is so snug that the dried film is very thin, maybe 1mil or so. Not hard to get off at all, nor was it difficult to break the bond when I needed to adjust the rings. You can tell...

Hiya Bullseye, What a great forum you have here! It was kind of a shock to find a site on the internet where people know what they're talking about AND they're polite about it. You guys are a good bunch. I got a chance to look at the pistol again tonight. The overlap was hard to measure since I had ...

solow/grip interference on a 22/45
after reading for several days about the solow mounts, I made one critical mistake when I finally installed them. I heard several people mention needing to file them to fit, but I didn't understand where the not-fitting part came in until I went to tap the receiver into the grip this morning. This w...
