Post by Hakaman » Wed May 06, 2009 5:10 pm

I think I might move to Montana. It is a beautiful state with much history, and as the article below states, they have _ _ _ _ s (fill in the blanks) as well!

Like the idea, but how many guns are made in Montana?

Some manufacturers could be enticed to move there and set up shop. The only caveat is firearms that don't go across the state's border. Montana is a small market and I don't believe this has any real weight to it.

I loved Montana when I lived there (early - mid 60's) and still love that state. Kalispell and the Flathead national forest was the greatest place to live and work. Hunting, fishing and skiing made it almost impossible to find enough time to work. Kalispell is listed in the top 25 or 30 places to live in the US to work, hunt and fish according to an Outdoor Life article. Wish I were still there even if it does get colder than a well digger's butt.
Work is for people who don't hunt, plink or fish. Now that I am retired, I hunt, plink and fish. Life is good.

I have some distant relatives in Montana. One, Wally McRae is quasi famous as the 'Cowboy Poet' and he even appeared on the Tonight Show a few times, way back when Carson still hosted it. Beautiful country in Montana, I wouldn't mind visiting there more often.
