Anybody have any suggestions on a "spotting scope". I am currently looking for one at $300 or less.
I would like to use it out to 200 yds to see my 223 target. The club I belong to uses a Konus 7120

I am Mister Cheap on this. I found an old 6-30 X 40 "terrestrial" scope on eBay for $15, and put it on a $5 Targus tripod from the flea market. The scope is the cast aluminum type sold for camping and hiking, probably in the '60's. The tripod goes from about 1 foot to 4 feet high, so it works sitting down with or without a table.
For 25 yards, sometimes I just use Bushnell 8 X 25 binoculars I found on clearance.

I bought a Simmons from Dick's a few weeks back. I think it was 70-80 $$. There was another one at Dick's that I didn't like as well for about the same. The tripod is/was short (16-18 inches I think), but I had a camera tripod which I am using under it. The scope is 20x60 I believe. Eye relief is minimal, but it is clear. The eye piece has a screw on cover and the objective lens has a snap in cover; and it comes in a nice front and rear zipper case so I can mount it on the tripod without have to take it out of the case. Not bad for the money.
Work is for people who don't hunt, plink or fish. Now that I am retired, I hunt, plink and fish. Life is good.
