Lead removing cloths

Anybody know what's in these things?

I've used Hoppe's and Birchwood Casey. They seem to feel and smell the same. I do know either one works great, and saves me a lot of time and cursing.

The packages give no clue to ingredients, so I assume it's safe stuff, but still wonder while getting it all over my hands. I had a thought that they could bottle the chemicals to put on your own cloth or swabs.

Pretty safe. Wash your hands after use.

They usually have some form of ammonia (or ammonium chloride) and a mild abrasive.

The Lead-A-Way cloth I have works pretty good. I don't recall who made it though. Most tell you not to over do it on Blued guns, for it will remove the bluing.
