Sweden has a great deterrent with their air force. They have few air bases. Most of their planes are scattered individually around the the country, in small buildings next to highways, which serve as runways. An enemy would have to strike a lot of locations at once to disable their air power.

Probably guarantees better paved highways, too!

I think they have a similar requirement for every able-bodied man keeping a rifle at home.

And for the opposite in Europe take GB for example.

After a school shooting in dunblane the gun law was tightened.
You only can own long rifles with one round, no magacines or semi-autos, no pistols or revolvers.

In England there is an unbelievable boost of gun crime.
They have triple as much gun crime than switzerland.

How is this possible, when in fact gun possesion is almost forbidden??

We see a similar trend here in the Unites States, those areas with the tightest gun control measures tend to have the higher crime and gun related crime rates. The opposite tends to be true in areas where gun freedoms exist at higher levels.

Is there any statistics to proof this?

I´m a member of the German gun lobby and such a statistic from the US would be very useful for us.

DC and tgw south side of Chicago. Years ag and I mean like 40
I worked for a company as a service tech and had to travel to that part io Chicago. After 5 oclock inthe evening a cab cost double because it had an extra driver.

I think that gun ownership is a crime deterrent. But there are lots of opinions. Also, I'm reminded of the saying that there are lies, damned lies and statistics

Oh, there's plenty of info to support the argument but the opposition has to accept the facts. Unfortunately the opposition doesn't tend to listen to reason or facts. I'm betting that isn't a U.S. exclusive trait between differing sides in a debate.
