I see the 2011 catalog is finally available on their website. I thought it would be out after the "big" LC9 news.. Nothing new in it.

Including the .22 DA /SA revolver I'd like to see. They could resurrect the .22 SP-101, but I'd prefer something smaller with traditional grips. A whole new gun. I bet if they ever did, it would be polymer. Yecch!

Price changes about as expected, a bit more than the prices jumped last year. I saw something in the paper a few days back, stating that Ruger's sales jumped 85% in 2010, and profits were up 480%. If that's right, polymer is really boosting their profit margin.

Talked with a Ruger rep in NH Monday, and I asked about parts prices having not increased for two years. She said she understood they would be up in March.

I don't think you'll ever see a SP-.22 again as that was more than a little over kill for that cartridge. Now if they done one in a smaller frame I would have to have one. No body was buying them until the word came down that they were being discontinued and then they vanished over night. That's what happen around here.

kinda like the od green framed glocks no one bought them until glock decided not to make any more then they sold like hotcakes.

Leafing through holster listings, the SP-101 and S&W J-frame usually take the same holster, so they must be roughly the same size. There aren't but a few parts that require change from the .38 model to the .22. They could easily put it back in production. I would still wish it had traditional grip panels.

Had they still made it when I got back into shooting, my gun list would be different. Instead of Bobcats, I would have .38 and .22 SP-101s. One for carry and one for practice.

I've thought I'd like to have an SP101 in .22,but I haven't even seen someone with one around here, much less one for sale.

There's a lot of difference in weight between the two. My SP 101 weight was 28oz MTY. My M-36 is 19oz MTY. The holsters between the two do not interchange well. I have both. You could force fit a SP 101 into a J-frame holster but it wouldn't work right.

I would love a sp101 in 22lr with a 4" bbl... that would be a fun gun to plink with

The Beretta Bobcat, of course, is a semi auto, but I have so much fun target shooting with it. I shoot about 12 feet and shoot it rapid fire @ about 4 rds/sec. It doesn't have any muzzle flip to speak of, so I can stay on target even when shooting it as fast as I can.

My Bobcats will keep me on a paper plate at ten yards, at about one round per second.

I honestly consider a snub .38 the ideal carry gun, with a .22 version for basic practice. It just turned out that with S&W's prices and design, Taurus's poor QC, and Ruger not doing a .22 DA revolver, I looked at pistols.

Walther would have been great, but they dropped the .22 PPK. Not liking DAO, that narrowed it to Beretta. Tomcat frames crack, so that left me Bobcats.

I was a lot happier with gun choices back when I left shooting in early eighties. Seems so many really good guns are gone, that nothing matches now.

Woops I meant to say 12 feet. While rapid fire, 2 rds/sec, my group was about 4-5 inches.
Just a fun gun to shoot, cheap ammo, no muzzle flip, easy to clean, and operate. I'm sure
the Duke must have had one in his arsenal, I think I saw him use it in "True Grit"?
