Hey All, Got a question for you guy's in GA. I live in FL and have a good friend in Atlanta, GA who has a handgun I would like to buy from him. Here in Fl all you need is a valid drivers liscense and a bill of sale to consumate a deal, but I'm not sure what the laws are in GA when buying/selling handguns to each other/friends when there is no dealer involved.
Cam anyone out there shed some light on this subject?
Thanks,
Jim

You might want to visit the website packing.org. It's primarily a website for carry issues but they have a link to gun laws for the states and you may be able to find your answer there.

Try getting the info from the state of GA via the internet or just call a gun shop in GA they should be able to steer you down the right path. The biggest problem is buying across state lines, if that is a problem at all.

I know this is a fairly old post, but still....

I just purchased a handgun here in north Georgia and it was a piece of cake. You need a valid drivers license, and you fill out a simple form, basically making sure you're not wanted/criminal/stalker/legal citizen etc....

Then then send that form to "somewhere" (FBI or GBI I guess) and if it comes back OK, you pay the person behind the counter and walk out with your new toy.

it varies in each state...
with some common Federal/ATF checks, too...

some states require a 'waiting period'
some dis-allow Face-to-Face sales...
etc...
