Posted on Ruger Forum that it's in August issue of Guns & Ammo, will be on Ruger website any day! I haven't had chance to go find the magazine yet, plan to.

Said to be an eight shot with 4.3" half-lug barrel and fiber optic front sight, adjustable rear. Stainless, as usual. Wood insert grip.

I'm glad I'm sure I'd still like the Bearcat better. If Ruger had done traditional grip panels on this, I'm not so sure.

The way things are, by time I can afford one of these new ones, used ones will be everywhere anyway.........

Ruger Forum is abuzz about it. One member got an email back from Ruger apologizing, that a .22 SP-101 was not in production. This morning a post on Ruger's Facebook page where they admitted it, that Guns & Ammo had jumped the gun, and the target release date was August first. I guess we'll see........

Another thought I've had is on accessories (more $$$$$!). I don't think there is currently a holster that would work with the 4.3 inch barrel, unless the barrel hung out. And no eight shot speedloader for it. There actually are speedloaders for the older six shot one.

I too think these have been a long time coming..
I've seen three different variants of 22lr Ruger SP101s, 1) 4" barrel with full shroud,2) 4" with half shroud barrel & 3) 2 1/4" snubbie..
Also the Hogue grips fit these great & would be my choice for a plinker either rubber or wood..

I found a thread at another site that had a scan of Proof house & three pics of the new SP101.. Here they are..
Also note real adjustable rear sight that looks like a smaller GP100s sight not like the older adjustable SP101 type & the fiber optic front..

I cannot imagine Ruger is very happy with Guns and Ammo magazine with the early revelation of their new product even though it is only a few months ahead of the intended release date. Their earlier denials hurt their credibility; I don't know what they were thinking by refusing to acknowledge the creation of this new firearm. The photos clearly show the revolver, which is a finely crafted firearm. I'm not much of a revolver person but this is a nice looking gun.

Hasn't Ruger been doing the "Who, me?" routine with rumors of their latest products?

I like the SP101 but figure I've got enough .38/.357 revolvers, so I haven't bought one. I think a .22 cal SP101 would be a good buy. Ruger will probably have generated enough excitement with this leak that folks will be eager to add to the corporate profits.

I just can't stand the price of $645.00 for 8 shots when I can buy a MK-III for $330 and have 10 shots.. I would love to have one as I am a big revolver fan but I just don't have that much to spare on a novelty.

That $645 is MSRP. Actual selling price for decent dealers should be around $525-550? List on the stainless bull Mark III is $562 last I looked, but it sells for around $450.

When this SP first comes out I look for list price sales and some gouging, maybe.

I notice the serial on the G&A gun is -01054, and it was likely made weeks ago. Ruger needs to have a good stock by Aug. 1. Hopefully they'll still all turn out good and not rushed with "issues". I would imagine Ruger's factory capacity is pretty maxed out, where they'll really have to correctly guess demand to rotate production and minimize any waits.

I wonder the effect on the price of the earlier 6-shot ones? They have been going for big bucks pretty often.

From the looks of the pictures it appears that the cylinder is long enough to accept a magnum round. Any word on chambering? Thanks
