grips for S&W 41

Post by DeerSpy » Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:24 pm

I have been shooting my model 41 in bullseye league and find that I can't
get my hand around the grips, does any one sell a thinner set of grips?
I don't wang to cut my factory grips.

Yes, Herrett's has a set of .45 flat trainer style grips that emulate the shape and feel of a 1911. http://www.herrett-stocks.com/trnrflat.htm Here's a set that I made on my own. Mine trainer grips are a little thicker around as I have big paws.

These are very similar to the Herrett's but they are home made.

Welcome DeerSpy, always glad to see another 41 shooter!
Bullseye, is that one of the rare 5" barrels?

Yes, it is a 5" field barrel. I like shooting it. Bought that gun for $400 (used) with that barrel installed. I thought the Mrs. would like to shoot it. She did shoot one of my other 41's with the 5.5 bull barrel but didn't like it when I put larger grips on it. I bought that one but she decided that it wasn't for her, so into the safe with the others it went. The short barrel has a nice feel to it but the felt recoil and muzzle flip is more pronounced. I made those trainer grips to practice, feels like a 1911.

Thanks I might as well get the national model if the right hand side is thiner like the trainer,
does any one have a set of trainer or national used for sale?
I did not want to spend that much.
I might try to make a set, never done that befor.
