Model 41 grips

Post by swm41 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:03 pm

Hi to all. I'm looking for some info on grips for a 41. I have a Herret National on now but would like to check more options. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Skip

Randall Fung makes a nice set for the 41. http://jnb.com/~funggrip/smith41.html I used to shoot with his Dad and Bob Chow.

Champions Choice carries Morini grips for the 41 http://www.champchoice.com/detail.aspx?ID=1265

41 grips

Do we have anymore info on Dick Horton. Those were some nice looking grips. I've checked out Fung's website and I think his grips will offer more support then I'm getting from the Herret's

Dick Horton's e-mail address is "[email protected]".

I really love the grips he made for me. All he needed was a copy machine picture of my hand with the fingers slightly spread. Turn around time was just a couple days over 3 weeks. Mine are English Walnut but he has several other wood choices available.

Support? Believe it or not, I can completely open my hand and the pistol will not fall out of it. Those grips really do fit like a glove.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like what I'm looking for. Arthritis makes it hard to get as solid a grip as I would like. I'm hoping this could help

I got a set of Hortons for a 106 HS. Beautiful like the 41 set above, but the fit of a Fung revolver grip I have is is much better.
I have purchased and used several grips on target 22s, and CF revolvers.
Best fit = Fung on K38 and N45
second best = Rink of 208s
third = Nil
4th = Horton
5th = Morini. after a lot of adjusting Morini are pretty good.
6th = Second generation Vitarbo (not Arnie made)

Despite all that I am using today the factory ambi grip on 208s and also the CMM 45 grip adapter on 208s. The revolvers use the Fungs except for the requirements of DR.

41 Grips

I suppose it's hit or miss with alot of these mail order grips since there working off a a diagram or photo copy of your hand. It would be better if you had someone close enough to custom fit to your actual hand. On the info I have I'm leaning towards Fung or Horton. There is someone local that says they have an option that I will explore. I'll report later Skip
