Did I get Lucky?

Post by Baldy » Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:36 pm

You betcha I did. I was out with the wife shopping today and we stopped in a friends gun store to say hi. He had just got about 7 new Rugers in and one was the Talo 60th Anniversary model. I drooled all over it and it put back. While I was in the back My Loving Wife bought it for me. I am still in shock...

Since I got home I have tore it down and cleaned and oil it up for the range. I hope to get there tomorrow. Here's a few pictures.

You are lucky indeed. That is a very nice pistol. I look forward to hearing how well it shoots.

Shiny!
Range report is mandatory, you know.
So is doing something extra nice for MrsBaldy.

Just a heads-up, your links go to your album, granting full access, don't know if you care.

No Dave I didn't know that. I really don't mind folks looking around, but I would hate to have it trashed by a hacker. Thank You. :)

Thank's to all for looking and comments. :D

That Talo is too purty to shoot........You are lucky to have a Mrs. Baldy that would buy you that ( my mrs. bought me a 10/22 Sporter for Xmas, but still likes to whine when we're in a gun shop...?...).

I've seen the Talo 60th Anniversary Single-Six at Gander, but not the Mark 3. You're lucky to come across it. Very nice.

(BTW, I'm a halfway baldy, too. Saves me $ on haircuts...).

Sorry no sister's gentlemen..

Well I got to the range today with a few different types of ammo. Here's what I had.
Image

I only had a few rounds of the Eley but at 30' I kept it in a two inch circle I would say. That's some good ammo as my .22/45 loves it.

The Standard Plus had 4 failures to eject as you can see by the bent case. The grouping's opened up. I didn't like it as it feel's like it has been dumped in oil.

The Remington Thunderbolt and the Federal Value pack done just fine. The Federal is from back in the 1980's.

I walked out and left the targets at the range, typical dummy that I am.

If I was shooting bullseye or a match I would use the Eley for sure. I was happy to see the cheap ran OK. :D

Was at a gun show today, and one dealer had the stainless Talo 60th for $645, blued $545. Someone else had the blued one only for $799. Quite a difference! First I had seen either in the "flesh".

I was cheapo, bought two 6 inch pistol rugs, a handful of bore brushes. and went home. It's always fun to look, and drool a little....

Very, Very nice. I have that model in SS and it's a bell ringer right out of the box. I don't have those snazzy grips, though. P.S., my wife HATES guns  TJ
