Has anyone tried the new CCI Velocitor or Aguila Interceptor ammo?

The Velocitor is 40 grain plated HP, rated 1435 fps. It's described as a shallow HP, like Gold Dot bullets. The Interceptor is 40 grain plated round nose, rated 1470 fps.

Both sound to be a good choice for .22LR defensive rounds. Comments I've found online are mixed, but most are in agreement that the Aguila shoots very dirty.

A full weight hypervelocity .22LR is a good step up, but I also wonder about how it would stress the gun.

Maybe they'll reach the point where people look on .22LR as more acceptable for defense.

Ruger does not recommend any ammo faster than High Velocity.

Haven't done much with hypervelocity rounds. I did some stingers and didn't like the results. I've read a few posts by guys who seem to love them. I've stayed with SV and HV rounds.

I'm in agreement with Ruger. I tried a couple boxes of Federal Spitfire, and wasn't impressed. The accuracy was poor, and I got some jams. That seems the general opinion online about all the hyper ammo.

On the Beretta Forum everyone raves about Stingers in Bobcats. Considering the frame crack problem in the .32 Tomcat, with a near identical frame, I wouldn't dare run them in my Bobcats.

I don't think hyper .22LR would hurt my Single Six, since it is built for WMR, but the poor groups make it pointless.
