I haven't had these Rugers very long and I was wondering what you fellows use on the bolt? I been using a lite coat of CLP but then again I haven't fired over 200rds at one time. So far it's held up OK.
The old Ruger I had I used WD-40 and Gunslick.. A little shot of WD-40 and you was good for another 200rds.

My Mark III is stainless so there is the galling possibility. I put white lithium grease ( I get it in two ounce squeeze tubes at the hardware) on a cotton swab and lightly coat the rear two thirds of the bolt, minus the "ears". I use Hoppe's oil in a General precision oiler for everything else.
WD-40 is more of a moisture protector than a lubricant.

A few drops of Rem oil on a patch is all you need to swab the bolt. Too much lubricant is bad as unfired powder residue will collect on it and cause binding.

Thanks Bullseye. I guess I'll pick a small bottle of Rem oil.

CLP is fine too, just don't use too much at a time. Put a few drops on a clean rag or patch and wipe down the surface area of the bolt - that's all you need to do the job.

I've used both Rem-Oil & CLP as described above, I just put one drop on the bolt & spread it around with my fingers..
The Rem-Oil is alot thinner than CLP..
Over Lubricating 22s is a NO NO..

I just use the last oily patch from the bore on the bolt, and any other parts still on the table.

I use Red Oil myself.
1 drop on the extractor.
1 drop on the bolt by the rear of the ejection port.
Then lock the bolt back and apply 1 drop on either side, forward of the ears, and one drop on the recoil spring.
Brush out the chamber, and I'm good to go for the day.

I've used Hoppes, CLP or Rem Oil. All very light coats, mostly from a cloth with the oil on it. A couple of times I've been overly generous with the lube and the bolt gummed up pretty quickly.
I've been using spray on moly lube lately. That seems to work pretty well.

The never ending question and debate. For my .22's less is more and thin is usually in.

I like the shooters choice oil the best, I've tried some of the dry lubes and have not been impressed

Thanks for the info as I like to look over and try different lubes and such. My one son in law who is on the police force dropped off a can of stuff called Inox. It's a spray that's suppose to bond with the metal. I put some on my range pistol for the Tuesday night shoot.
