Micro dot sight

Post by gcp » Sun Mar 04, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi friends,

A few days ago I mounted on my MarkII a Primary Arms MD-07 red dot. I originally bought this sight for my LMT AR-15, and it worked great on that platform also, but since it's so small and light I thought I'd try it out on the pistol. It's an outstanding fit for the Mark II and helped me shoot it today extremely well. I have no affiliation to PA but I'm so happy with the results I wanted to share this with you, pass on the good results so to speak. I like this sight so much that I'll be purchasing a second for my AR-15, I just hope it too doesn't grow legs again and drift on another of my pistol  .

If you have more gun's than sights they seam to move around. All I can say is that the dot sights are great for aging eyes, since I can no longer see iron sights.

Ah yes, my tired old eyes need all the help they can get and this red dot sure did the trick. Of course a regular scope would probably prove more accurate but it would also be sizeably larger. All in all a good compromise for the mark II.

I think the dot sights are just as accurate as the 1x scopes, and are much quicker to get on-target.

My son has an H&R Handy-Rifle in .22 hornet that is very accurate with a dot sight.

I bought a B-Square scope mount for my military dress Swedish Mauser that clamps on the rifle's rear sight, without altering or marring the gun. I used that to mount a dot-sight. My daughter used that combo for her first experience with a high-powered rifle. - And her first three shots went into 1", at 100yd.

Lots of guys use them in competitive pistol shooting. They are plenty accurate, but I do wish that there was a way to have variable dot size, as well as intensity.

Some of the dot sights do have different size dots that can be selected. But most will be 3moa as the smallest with a 5-7 as the second size. If I recall the UltraDot has a 2MOA.

And as you get older yet the dots appear to be two and not just one so it's still a guessing game. Can't win........

Astigmatism problem cause strange things with the dot. As my eyes get tired I see tails coming off the bottom of the dot. I going to have my eyes checked this month for new glasses, to try to loose the tails. I use always use the manual brightness control on my QS. Shooting in a indoor range the auto brightness controls seams to over drive it make the dot larger than it should be.

You are welcome! I am getting ready to order another same red dot for my AR, that's where this one resided originally and the AR's missing it.
